Research

In our laboratory, we study the fundamental forces that drive and resist plate tectonics. We are interested in a broad range of phenomena from melting and melt migration in the lithospheric mantle and lower crust, to how rocks fail as they are loaded under a broad range of pressure and temperature conditions. We are also researching possible avenues for climate change mitigation by carbon mineralization and storage. Below is a list of our current research projects.

1. Melt migration

2. Semi-brittle flow of the continental crust

3. Rheology of nano-crystalline and amorphous materials

4. Carbon Storage in Mafic Rocks
